Our Purpose at Techcollege

At Techcollege, we are here to promote the learning of our students and course participants, so that they are equipped to meet society's demands and expectations, and not least to participate actively in society themselves.

Therefore, we have a dual purpose, where we both have a responsibility to strengthen the individual student's life opportunities through education - and at the same time must fulfill a social responsibility by ensuring qualified labor for today's and tomorrow's labor market.

Community and Purpose

We share our purpose, and the purpose serves as a strong compass for the community at Techcollege – and as a common thread through all our decisions.

Everyone has a central role and responsibility in relation to the learning of students and course participants – and in relation to what we each need to become better at.

That's why we work purpose-driven and co-led, so that we fulfill our full potential. And so that decisions are made as close to the students and course participants as possible.

Co-leadership as Practice

We know that co-leadership is difficult, and requires focus, practice, and shared commitment to principles and methods, but we do it because we believe in the drive and power that lies within us all.

And we believe in the results we can achieve when we cultivate it with the task in focus.

Management is framework-setting, insistent and facilitating, because co-management does not come by itself, and release must take place with respect for our purpose and task.

Corner Flag and Foundation

Therefore, we have defined clear cornerstones for our co-leading organization, and our foundation – professional accountability – must help us align the expectations we must have of each other in order to succeed.

In the following, we describe the foundation on which Techcollege must stand in the future so that we can demonstrate professional responsibility in all our actions;

towards our students and course participants, towards each other and in relation to our surroundings.

We therefore describe:

Our task

Our collaboration in professional learning communities

Our foundation must create a starting point for community and common direction – with room for the diversity and multiplicity that will naturally also characterize Techcollege in the future.

Our mission – learning for all students and course participants

Education is more than just a qualification or a way into the job market. It is an opportunity to fulfill people's full potential. We believe in the drive and power that lies within us all. And we believe in the results we can achieve when we cultivate it with professionalism in focus.

The world is in a state of rapid development, and it is moving faster and faster every day. That is why we have high ambitions for what our students and course participants can achieve – and this entails equally high ambitions for ourselves. We believe that professionalism makes the difference, and we believe that we can promote development and learning for all our students and course participants.

With this mindset, we develop and educate for a sustainable future, so that our students and course participants are well equipped for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Head and hands must follow each other, and therefore we emphasize practical learning and experience through realistic teaching, strong professional communities and a pedagogical learning culture.

We are not just an educational institution. We are a powerhouse of professionalism and education.

Our view of people and learning – people do well if they can

At Techcollege we see and meet each other at eye level. We know that people need to be met as competent, autonomous individuals who want to experience togetherness. All people need:

  • control over one's own life (autonomy)

  • to experience being good at something (competence)

  • to be part of a community (cohesion)

When our needs for autonomy, competence and belonging are met, we learn better and thrive better. And when these needs are not met, they will manifest as barriers to participation and engagement in education and learning.

We must fulfill people's full potential, and therefore we must commit ourselves, together with students and course participants, to removing the barriers that stand in the way of their participation, education and learning. And we must strengthen practical and realistic teaching and our pedagogical learning culture. This is our shared obligation and professional responsibility. We believe that people do well if they can, and therefore we meet students and course participants with positive expectations and based on the resources they have - not the resources we wish they had.

But our view of humanity is just as much a common starting point for the way we meet each other. Teachers, counselors, resource persons, staff members and managers. Because we can only fulfill people's full potential if we cooperate and learn from each other. That is precisely what is at the core of our professional responsibility. We take on the task and insist on solving it with professionalism in focus.

Our collaboration in professional learning communities – learning is a team sport

We focus on our own professionalism, and know that we need to be self-learners and develop ourselves in order to meet our own ambitions and the demands and expectations of the outside world. We prioritize education and professional development because we know that high quality teaching requires professional ballast, immersion and knowledge. And we keep up to date with the development of knowledge in our field, new legislation, regulations and frameworks for our education programs, because it is a prerequisite for being a powerhouse for professionalism and education.

The learning outcomes of students and trainees are largely dependent on our joint efforts and collaboration. Our professional learning communities are the framework for our joint collaboration and efforts to fulfill the full potential of students, trainees and the organization. We collaborate in professional learning communities because we know that learning is a team sport where everyone's contribution is important.

We take responsibility for improving each other's professional practice, and we respect each other as professionals who want to contribute and make a positive difference. In our professional learning communities, learning is the focal point on two levels. First, the goal is to strengthen the learning and well-being of students and trainees, and second, we ourselves are learners and investigators with a view to identifying and developing effective principles for our task solving across the entire Techcollege.

We approach the task of living up to our dual purpose and promoting the learning of all our students and course participants professionally and humbly. Because we know it will be difficult, and we know that we can only succeed through professionalism, good collaboration and high levels of mutual trust and commitment – across all organizational layers of Techcollege.
