The Science line is a specially designed 4-year course for students who need more time, a fixed framework and a calm learning environment. The study direction is targeted at students with ASD or others who are eligible for special educational support (SPS). Here you can take a full science baccalaureate in a structured environment, where the teaching is adapted to your needs, and where there is clear planning, security and clarity in everyday life.

Why choose the Science line?
The Science line is for those who want to work with mathematics, physics and natural sciences, but who also need time, peace and predictability. The class is smaller than usual, the teaching is more manageable, and there are permanent teachers with experience in teaching students with different challenges. There is the possibility of breaks, a permanent classroom and close contact with both SPS supervisors and a contact teacher.
The field of study gives you the same academic opportunities as a regular science class - just with a daily routine that is designed so that you can thrive better.

How the teaching takes place
The teaching is organized so that you have a clear framework and plenty of time to work on the assignments. There are approximately 20 lessons per week, and the schedule includes planned breaks that provide a break from everyday life. The class works primarily in a fixed room, which is decorated with a focus on calm and structure.
You will experience less group work than in other fields of study, but still have the opportunity to collaborate when it makes sense. Homework is often made possible during school hours, and you can get support from both SPS supervisors, mentors and contact teachers by appointment.
In the 3rd and 4th years, you can take selected subjects together with other classes when you are ready.

The application deadline is March 1st at 12:00. If you apply later, you will have to take an entrance exam, even if you meet all admission requirements. You will receive a response to your application in April.
Please note that you must apply for the field of study “classes for students with special needs (extended course)” and write in the comments field that you want the Science line. After applying, you will be called for a visitation interview.
In 8th grade, you must have an average of 5.0 in your final standing grades to meet the academic requirements to be assessed as educationally ready for upper secondary school. The educational readiness assessment also includes your personal and social qualifications.
In 9th grade, you must have an average of 5.0 in your final standing grades to continue to meet the academic requirements to be assessed as educationally ready for high school.
For the final exam, you must pass and confirm your academic level from the UPV in the statutory exams in order to be able to go directly to high school.
If you are not considered ready for education and have an average of less than 6.0 in the statutory tests from the primary school leaving exam, you have the opportunity to apply for admission via a professional entrance exam and interview.

When you choose Science (4-year program), you get a combination of mandatory subjects and the opportunity to choose your own subjects.

At Science, your options depend on the field of study the course is associated with.
This means that the number of level-up and C subjects follows the field of study that Science is combined with.

What is a level-up?
A level increase means that you take one of your subjects at a higher level than what is already in the field of study.
For example, you have Chemistry at B level. If you choose Chemistry A as a boost, you will complete the subject at A level instead.

Science is a specially designed 4-year program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or other students who are eligible for special educational support (SPS) and who need extra time and structure in their education.
The line is for those who want a science baccalaureate with a focus on mathematics and physics - in a calm and structured environment.
Characteristics of the process:
Teaching approximately 20 lessons per week
Breaks included in the schedule – e.g. one full day a week
Permanent classroom located in quiet surroundings
Classroom adapted to special needs
Permanent teachers and support staff with experience in teaching students with diagnoses
Frequent presence of SPS supervisor in teaching
Individual SPS supervisor/mentor by appointment
Reduced amount of homework – homework assignments are often started during class
Opportunity to participate in school social and academic events
The same academic requirements and mandatory assignments are set as in a regular class. The Science student exam is therefore just as valid for admission to higher education as other upper secondary education.
In the Science line, there is a close support system around you.
Contact teacher
A contact teacher is assigned to the course. The contact teacher acts as a link between you, your teachers, SPS supervisors/mentors and your relatives in relation to both academic and social well-being.
The contact teacher participates in weekly orientation meetings with teachers and supervisors
Ensures an overview of the weekly schedule and upcoming activities
Takes care of both small and large challenges
Ensures rapid communication between student and relevant stakeholders
SPS supervisor and mentor
You will be assigned an individual SPS supervisor/mentor who will support you by appointment.
The SPS counselor can help with structure, planning, well-being and academic challenges.
The contact teacher and the individual SPS supervisor may in some cases be the same person.
Tutoring scheme
A special tutor corps consisting of students from the high school collaborates with teachers and counselors to support the class and the individual student in participating in the school's social and academic activities.
A tutor acts as a guide, you can ask for advice on school-related topics.

What is special about the Science course is that on the first day you will meet a contact person who will assess with you how and to what extent you can participate in the common bridge building. The course is adapted to your needs.

June 25, 2026 is a visiting day for registered students and parents in the Science line.
The goal of the meeting is to ensure a safe environment for all new students before the start of school.
The students will meet in the school's AULA Øster Uttrupvej 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Here they will meet their contact teacher, SPS supervisors and some of their teachers.
A special program is planned for parents.
From 12:00 to 13:00 it is possible to speak with the contact teacher, SPS supervisors and some of the teachers in the field of study.
