Building Automation Competence Center
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?
Techcollege wants to establish a competence center within building automation.
The vision is that the competence center will contribute with a holistic view in the field of Intelligent Building Installations (IBI), through both the didactic approach, interdisciplinary approach and the physical framework.
We currently have a strong professional environment within governance and regulation, and will be able to draw on our experience from here, among other things.
The ambition of the competence center is that it should be an interdisciplinary learning environment that collectively contains the latest technologies within building automation, such as monitoring, control and operation of entire buildings within the installation industry with a special focus on electrician education. We will create an experimental teaching environment with a framework for students to collaborate across disciplines and develop competencies that are in demand by the labor market, so that they are equipped to be an important player in the green transition.
WHO IS BEHIND?
EVU (the education secretariat for the electrical and plumbing industry for TEKNIQ Employers, the Danish Electrical Association and the Danish Plumbers' Association) and AUB have allocated funds from the AUB pool 2022 to projects and initiatives that strengthen apprenticeship support work, search and quality (Tripartite funds).

WHICH COURSES ARE PARTICIPATING?
Electrician training

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PART OF THE PROJECT?
In the project we will, among other things:
Purchase equipment for establishment and renovation of premises
Conduct a feasibility study among companies, students and suppliers
Competence development for subject teachers
Describe the didactics and professionalism of the competence center
Communicate about the competence center
Conduct a visit campaign at companies
Develop teaching material for integration into the education's current and possibly new modules
Integrate the competence center into EUD, EUX and bridge-building activities
Collaboration with knowledge institutions, companies and organizations
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS OF THE PROJECT?
The goal is to create a unique interdisciplinary competence center that can attract more highly qualified young people to the programs and strengthen a holistic understanding of building automation and the large energy savings that can be found in the field.
We want to educate students who can lead companies and help shape the agenda within the green transition and strengthen the attractiveness of the electrician education. We also want to create a center for the development of the education so that the electrician profession lives up to its central role in the future green transition process.
The ambition is to expand the competence center's professional field to include all areas within building automation, including plumbing and energy education.
The objective of the project is to:
Establish a sustainable competence center for building automation within the electrician education, which can be operated and further developed with its own funds after an implementation period
Create visibility about electrician training, including in particular building automation and the profession's central role in the green transition
Attract more students to the electrician education, including more EUX students
Establish forums for knowledge sharing about building automation among LUU, companies, knowledge institutions and other vocational schools
