Open Learning Conversations - as a (strategic, organizational and dialogical) concept for pedagogical leadership.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?

The purpose of the project is to develop our pedagogical leadership through open learning conversations, so that we contribute to our students' development and formation as people and citizens, increase their life opportunities and ensure greater implementation.

WHICH COURSES ARE PARTICIPATING?

From Techcollege, all of our programs, represented by the program managers and the program teachers, participate in selected Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

THE PROJECT IN NUMBERS

Total project budget: DKK 1,010,827.

Techcollege's total budget: DKK 1,010,827. *Of which self-financing: DKK 537,907.

Ministry of Children and Education (UVM): DKK 481,387.

Project period: 14.11.2023 – 30.06.2025

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PART OF THE PROJECT?

2024 Phase 1:

• Further development of the Educational Management concept and internal competence development in the People and Organization department

2024 Phase 2+3:

• Testing 1 and 2 of the concept with the heads of education at Techcollege and selected PLFs

• The concepts are tested, for example, by recording conversations and feedback activities

2025 Phase 4:

• • Evaluation activities, in the form of questionnaires and/or interviews for managers and employees

• • Evaluation indicators inspired by research questions from Viviane Robinson, used in the research project "Leadership for Enhanced Learning".

  • • Handling disagreements in conversations

  • • Managing emotions in conversations

  • • Uncovering assumptions in conversations

  • • Presenting concerns in conversations

  • • Investigation of doubts and disagreements

  • • Study of how problems are solved

  • • Exploration of valid information

  • • Building internal commitment

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS OF THE PROJECT?

The expected goal of the project is that all pedagogical leaders at Techcollege

• Gains knowledge and understanding of theories and methods in relation to open learning conversations and can reflect on applied practice

• Acquire skills to be able to hold open learning conversations in one's own management practice and initiate open learning conversations in one's own organization

• Within one's own managerial space and context, can lead and conduct open learning conversations at both individual and team level.

The project's expected success criteria:

• The pedagogical leaders use open learning conversations several times a week in their management practice.

• The pedagogical leaders consistently include data in their conversations with teachers

• Teachers experience that conversations with their leader help them in solving academic tasks.

• The open learning conversations contribute positively to the goal of more students being admitted and completing their education at Techcollege.
