New thesis targeting digital threats

Techcollege was approved to offer the Computer Technician with a specialization in Cybersecurity in August 2025, in collaboration with several vocational schools in Denmark. The education was developed in collaboration with the industry and is intended to meet the growing need for IT employees who can secure companies' data, systems and operations.

The risk of cyberattacks is severe and the latest threat assessment from the Danish Agency for Social Security states that the threat level for cybercrime in Denmark is very high. The agency writes, among other things, that it is very likely that organizations in Denmark will be exposed to attempted ransomware attacks, digital fraud and data theft.

The first students have just started on the new line. Here they learn to combine technical knowledge with good communication, so that they can create and protect the solutions that people and businesses depend on every day. During the program, students receive training that gives them both practical experience and insight into everything from networks, servers and IT security to troubleshooting, support and user communication.

Head of Education at Techcollege, Eva Melchior, is excited that Techcollege can offer the new education, especially because companies are very interested in the new specialization, which has been in demand for a long time.

“Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue – it is a business-critical discipline,” says Eva Melchior.

"With the new education, we equip students to be at the forefront of companies' digital defense. It is a professionally strong and socially relevant education that we are very proud to be able to offer."

Companies are the key to making education a success

The first students have just started on the new line, and an important prerequisite for the education to be a success is that more students become apprentices at relevant companies.

“We need companies that will take responsibility and engage in building the IT skills of the future,” says Majbritt Skovgaard Laursen, business consultant at Techcollege.

"The apprenticeships are absolutely crucial, as this is where students gain practical experience and learn to translate their knowledge into great value in everyday life. We would very much like to engage in dialogue with companies that are curious about taking on an apprentice."
