A2 refrigeration certificate

A2 refrigeration certificate, 15 days, consists of the following two courses:

A2 course 1 Refrigeration, A/C & heat pump technology, 23148, 10 days

A2 Certificate 2 Refrigeration, A/C & Heat Pump Technology, 23152, 5 days

Target group:

The course is aimed at skilled workers and similar target groups who need an A2 certificate for handling refrigeration systems and heat pump systems in their jobs.

Admission requirements:

Admission requirements for the course are: Brazing of copper and steel, AMU goal 47306 or a journeyman's certificate as a skilled plumber.

Course content:

Learn to handle non-flammable refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, with refrigerant fillings up to 3kg according to Regulation (EU) 2024/573, as well as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215. In Denmark, the area is also regulated by the Danish Working Environment Authority's Executive Order on Occupational Health and Safety Education, which means that with the A2 certificate you are entitled to work legally with refrigeration systems and heat pumps in Denmark with up to 1kg group 1 refrigerant fillings and up to 3kg group 2 refrigerant fillings (and 3kg regardless of refrigerant type in the rest of the EU).

A2 course 1 Refrigeration, A/C & heat pump technology, 23148, 10 days

A2 course step 1. The green transition means increased demand for renewable energy sources such as heat pumps powered by refrigerant, while there is still a need for the establishment of smaller refrigeration systems. Today, natural refrigerants and refrigerants other than fluorinated ones are increasingly used. In the course, you will learn how to handle non-flammable refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, with refrigerant filling up to 3 kg according to Regulation (EU) 2024/573, as well as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215. The course is a prerequisite for obtaining an A2 refrigeration certificate. In Denmark, the area is also regulated by the Danish Working Environment Authority's Executive Order on Occupational Health and Safety Education, which means that with the A2 certificate you are entitled to work legally with refrigeration systems and heat pumps in Denmark with up to 1 kg of group 1 refrigerant fillings and up to 3 kg of group 2 refrigerant fillings (and 3 kg regardless of refrigerant type in the rest of the EU).

Goal:

After completing the course, the participant can handle non-flammable refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, with refrigerant fillings up to 3kg according to Regulation (EU) 2024/573, as well as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215. In Denmark, the area is also regulated by the Danish Working Environment Authority's Executive Order on Occupational Health and Safety Education, which means that with the A2 certificate, one gets the right to work legally with refrigeration systems and heat pumps in Denmark with up to 1kg group 1 refrigerant fillings and up to 3kg group 2 refrigerant fillings (and 3kg regardless of refrigerant type in the rest of the EU).

That is to say:

The participant has an understanding of the operation and function of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, as well as main and line components.

The participant has knowledge of the global environmental impact of refrigerants and of legislation on the transport, storage and handling of non-flammable refrigerants and auxiliary substances.

The participant selects recovery equipment, pressure gauges, scales and refrigerant bottles based on labeling and fills and drains non-flammable refrigerants as well as connects and disconnects recovery equipment.

The participant performs visual inspection, strength and tightness testing and uses a vacuum pump to dry out air and moisture. The participant is familiar with possible leak points as well as indirect and direct leak control methods and can determine possible refrigerant leaks.

The participant can install a compressor and test and set a pressure switch to prevent refrigerant emissions. The participant can determine the operating condition of the compressor and make suggestions for energy efficiency.

The participant has knowledge of air- and water-cooled condensers and can set pressure regulation. The participant can visually assess the condenser and evaporator and inspect the high- and low-pressure side piping and defrost systems.

The participant can install and adjust thermostatic expansion valves, filter driers and thermostats.

The participant can transfer collected data to equipment records.

A2 Certificate 2 Refrigeration, A/C & Heat Pump Technology, 23152, 5 days

A2 certificate level 2. The green transition means increased demand for renewable energy sources such as heat pumps powered by refrigerant, while there is still a need for the establishment of smaller refrigeration systems. In the course, you will learn to handle flammable refrigerants and obtain an A2 certificate to handle refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, with a refrigerant charge of up to 3 kg according to Regulation (EU) 2024/573, as well as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215. The course concludes with the exam for the statutory authorization required to work with flammable and non-flammable refrigerants (A2 refrigeration certificate) of up to 3 kg in the EU.

Goal:

After completing the course, the participant can handle flammable refrigerants and obtains an A2 certificate to handle refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, with refrigerant fillings up to 3 kg according to Regulation (EU) 2024/573, as well as Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2215. In Denmark, the area is also regulated by the Danish Working Environment Authority's Executive Order on Occupational Health and Safety Education, which means that with the A2 certificate, one gets the right to work legally with refrigeration systems and heat pumps in Denmark with up to 1 kg group 1 refrigerant fillings and up to 3 kg group 2 refrigerant fillings (and 3 kg regardless of refrigerant type in the rest of the EU).

That is to say:

The participant has an understanding of the division of refrigerants into groups 1 and 2 as well as safety grouping.

The participant has knowledge of labeling, service equipment and personal protective equipment for working with flammable refrigerants.

The participant has an understanding of the thermodynamic properties of refrigerants, their explosion limits and hygienic limit values.

The participant can identify the amount and type of refrigerant such as azeotropic or zeotropic refrigerants and can perform leak tests for flammable refrigerants.

The participant can safely fill and drain refrigerants on refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment containing a flammable refrigerant and can replace components, but not modify the system, according to standard practice on these.

The participant has knowledge of the legislation for the transport, storage and handling of flammable refrigerants and auxiliary substances.

Course certificate and certificate from the KMO scheme

Two AMU course certificates are issued which are subsequently converted into an A2 refrigeration certificate from the Environmental Scheme.
