Agricultural education as a breeding ground for green change agents
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?
The project's goal is to train the next generation of skilled farmers and leaders to be change agents in the green transition of agriculture. Background and challenges Agriculture must undergo a comprehensive green transition to ensure food and agricultural production that reduces the burden on planetary boundaries and meets national and international goals for reduced environmental and climate impact, including the green tripartite. Agricultural education has the potential to play a central role in this by ensuring that the next generation of farmers acquires the necessary skills and a green mindset. However, this requires that students' green skills are further supported both in teaching and training.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PART OF THE PROJECT?
The project will
1. Strengthen green education through the development of teaching materials and the upgrading of skills of teachers and educational leaders.
2. Strengthen green learning in training, through skills development of training managers and portfolio assignments that link teaching and training.
3. Ensure that all agricultural students gain experience with green production methods and technologies by integrating practical training on green cultivation methods and technologies into teaching at all levels of agricultural education.
4. Strengthen the use of green data through the development of simulation tools and sandboxes that strengthen students' understanding of biological processes and effects of various climate and environmental initiatives, increase their data understanding and confidence, and enable them to use data strategically in the green transition.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS OF THE PROJECT?
The project will ensure that new skilled farmers and managers become modern land managers with strong green competencies, that educators and training managers can support this development, and that agricultural education is quickly adapted to support the political ambitions for modern land use, increasingly green food production and the transition from fossil to renewable resources.
