The dormitory atTechcollege
Welcome to the school dormitory
The school dormitory is for those who want to live close to their education – and who want a place where it is nice to be. When you arrive, you enter the lobby, which together with the fireplace room is the school dormitory's gathering point. Here, students meet, help each other with homework, chat or relax, and there is always a staff member nearby if you need help or have a question.
It is an environment with life, calm and familiarity – an everyday life that makes it easy to settle in.

Everyday life with us
At the dormitory, you live with other students who are also studying at Techcollege. This means that you quickly get to know each other and that community often arises naturally.
Some spend their evenings in the game room or in the creative workshops, where they sew, upcycle clothes or get help with a project. Others play basketball on the multi-purpose court or meet in the fireplace room. And there is also room for days when you just find peace in your own room.
There are offers and activities every week - but you choose what you want to be a part of.
A safe place to land
We make sure you feel welcome from day one. Each start-up begins with an introductory evening where students get to know each other through activities that make it easy to create new relationships.
There is always a homestay assistant at work that you can go to – both about practical matters and about everyday life. This provides a sense of security that many people appreciate when they live here for the first time.

Weekends and Aalborg just outside
You can stay at the school dormitory on the weekends. There is food, staff and the opportunity to be with other students. Many also spend the weekends on activities in Aalborg, which is within walking distance of the school dormitory.
Come and experience it
The school home is difficult to fully describe – it has to be experienced. Therefore, you are welcome to visit us and get a feel for the place before you decide.

To book a room at the school dormitory, you must first log in with your personal login. Once you are logged in, you will have access to create and view your bookings.
If you have any questions, please contact the school home at 2526 6380.
If you have more than 3 blocks of public transport from your home to Techcollege, you can choose to live in the school dormitory. There may also be other reasons why you can be granted a school dormitory place. Furthermore, you must start a vocational education (EUD or EUX) and the department you start at must be the closest school where you can take the desired education or specialization. If you are in doubt whether you meet the requirements, please contact your supervisor or call the school dormitory on 25266380.
A room including board costs DKK 641 per week (State rate) if you are over 18 years of age or have an education agreement AND are entitled to live at the school dormitory. If you are under 18 years of age and without an education agreement, the stay is free.
Students who are parents of children under 18 years of age will be granted a free place upon documentation in the form of a name or baptismal certificate. Note! Due to lack of space, you may in very special periods be living in a double room with another student. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
If you are not eligible for a school dormitory, you can, if there is space, be accommodated as a guest. Contact the school dormitory for space and price.
Payment
When you are staying at the school dormitory, you will receive an invoice from the school. A fixed weekly price is charged. The weekly price covers your stay for up to 7 days, and is adjusted once per year according to the State's rates. This means that if your stay lasts for, for example, 4 days, you will be charged for one week. If your stay lasts for, for example, 12 days, you will be charged for two weeks. If you have money to your credit at Techcollege, the money will be transferred to your NemKonto.
You can move in the day before your school starts. It is best to arrive on weekdays after 7 p.m., when the homeroom assistant has attended the evening meal in the canteen. The same applies to Sundays. If you need to arrive at other times, you can make an appointment by email. During the hours 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m., homeroom assistants are busy where dinner is served. You can arrive until 10 p.m.
At the reception you will be given the key to a furnished room. There is a bed, a desk, a chair, shelves and a notice board. For hygiene reasons, you cannot bring a refrigerator, but electrical appliances with self-switching off are allowed. On the ground floor at Rørdalsvej there are several refrigerators, electric kettles, etc., which students can use freely. There is free tea and coffee in the fireplace room. There is no access to refrigerators in the dormitory rooms at Øster Uttrup Vej.
In case of overbooking, we will find temporary locations in Aalborg that are suitable for temporary accommodation for boarding school students until rooms become available. As a general rule, we do not send young people under the age of 18 to external locations, unless we have an agreement with a guardian.
All rooms in the dormitory are located in a section of two. Another student of the same gender lives next door, and the two of you will share a bathroom and toilet. The room is furnished with a bed, desk and wall shelf. There is a duvet and pillow in the room. You must bring your own bed linen, towels and personal care items (hand soap, shampoo, etc.). However, you can rent a bed linen package including towels for 50.00 per package. Soap and toothpaste are sold from the dormitory's vending machine if you have forgotten.
If you need to wash, you must create an agreement with payperwash. You buy a washing pad that you can put money on and use in the laundry. You get help with setting it up at the reception. In the basement there is also access to a bicycle room, so your bicycle can be stored in a locked room.
The school dormitory is smoke-free. However, smoking/vaping is allowed in the smoking shed outside school hours, between 4:30 PM and 7:30 AM, and on weekends and holidays.
All rooms have a smoke alarm, which is connected directly to the emergency services. The alarms are very sensitive to smoke and to coverings. You must therefore under no circumstances attempt to dismantle the alarm or cover it, this will be registered immediately and the alarm will be sent to the emergency services. It costs DKK 7000 to call the fire department without a fire.
You must take out your own insurance to cover your belongings and if you are injured. The school hostel does not replace lost items.
When you live in a boarding school, you do not have to change your national register address. You can get SU equivalent to living outside the home when you live in a boarding school and have an address somewhere else.
Forgotten items. The school dormitory follows the rules in the Lost Property Act, Section 1, subsection 2, which means that we store lost property for 30 days. If you have forgotten any belongings at the school dormitory, you can have them returned to you by contacting the reception at Rørdalsvej. After 30 days, valuable items are handed over to the police, while the rest are given away or destroyed.
You have your own room, but share the entrance hall, bathroom and toilet with another student. The rooms are furnished and have the most necessary things. A bed, a desk and a chair, as well as shelves and a notice board. In the entrance hall there are lockers that your key fits into.
You are welcome to have visitors in your room, but you are not allowed to have overnight guests. If there are available rooms in the school dormitory, any guests can rent a room during the visit. Your guests are your responsibility, and the visit must always be in accordance with the school dormitory's rules and house rules.
You must keep your room clean and tidy. A new student may move into the room next to yours, and it is therefore important that the hallway, bathroom and toilet always appear clean and tidy. You will be visited from time to time by a dormitory assistant who can help with questions about cleaning, etc. You must throw your waste in the container by the parking lot regularly so that there is no bad smell in the room.
The rooms must be maintained on an ongoing basis. Therefore, building services may gain access to your room, which will most often happen during school hours. The room is on loan, so take good care of it. You can read how to contact building services in the welcome brochure if you experience problems with water, heating, etc.
Facilities
At the school home section at Rørdalsvej 10 there is a fireplace room, student café, computer café, game room, TV room, table tennis, billiards, pool, darts, fitness room and sauna. You can also participate in trips outside the house or you can take a trip into town yourself. In the basement workshops there will be various activities and opportunities to participate in creative activities, Christmas clips, open workshops, boxing, poker tournaments and much more. If you have ideas for activities, we are very responsive, and it often happens that students take the initiative for joint activities. Regardless of whether you live on Rørdalsvej or on Øster Uttrup Vej, you are free to use all the facilities.
Meals
As a homeschool student, your meals are served in Canteen H. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are free of charge, and you can also purchase snacks. You must scan your student card for each of the three main meals, so it is important to bring your student card. If you are studying at a department other than Rørdalsvej, you can either bring a sandwich or pack a packed lunch, or you can use one of the other canteens at Techcollege. Once you have scanned your student card for breakfast, you can have your lunch in Techcollege's canteens. If you have allergies to certain types of food, are vegetarian or vegan, we would like to know before your stay starts, so that we can provide the right diet for you. Write us a message at skolehjem@techcollege.dk .
In addition to the three main meals at the school home, we welcome you home from school with an afternoon snack at 3-4 pm. After dinner, at approximately 8 pm, there is an evening snack. At activities such as banko, Christmas cutting and other joint activities, cake or similar is served.
If some time passes between the start of your course and the time you receive your student card, you must bring your key card to the canteen as documentation that you are a homeschool student and do not have to pay for meals.
Homework help at the school dormitory
There is a homework café on the school home's schedule. Weekdays may vary from month to month, but we offer homework help every week in the fireplace room. There will be a homeroom assistant present who can help with formalities for assignments, formulating paragraphs, and you can get ideas for solving challenges together with the school home staff. You can also get help with a job application or an internship application. In the homework café there is a relaxed atmosphere, and you can get help with what you are struggling with.
You are welcome to come to the homework café even if you don't have any homework. Here you can have fun with the other students, and maybe you have the energy to help some of the other students with their homework. The school staff will not grade your assignments and you can ask all the questions you can think of and have things explained more than once. The homework café is a free space and we emphasize having a nice and cozy time while we concentrate on our homework.
You can stay at the school dormitory during your education. There may be a shorter stay between your courses, e.g. basic course 1 and basic course 2, and you are expected to go home. It is possible to be here on weekends and public holidays, except on days when the school dormitory is closed due to holidays. It is not possible to stay at the school dormitory during the Christmas holidays, Easter holidays and we are closed all of July. If you have a school course that extends into the closing days, you will be moved to either a hotel or to rooms at Aalborg Erhvervskollegium. You cannot gain access to rooms with your key tag while the school dormitory is closed for holidays.
