Get a handle on the technology behind the wooden construction of the future

In this course you will learn to work professionally with glulam, CLT and wooden elements - from manufacturing and storage to assembly and quality assurance.

You will gain insight into the properties of the materials, moisture management and assembly details, as well as how to meet requirements for fire, sound, moisture, air tightness and U-value in modern wooden structures.

Course content

The course gives you a thorough understanding of how to work professionally with wooden construction at height, specifically with the materials glulam, CLT and wooden elements.

You will learn to understand the materials, meet requirements, control quality, create tight and strong joints, use correct tools, read and follow plans, ensure high quality and work safely.

In short, this course makes you a competent professional in wooden construction at height.

Target group

The course is primarily aimed at employees with industry experience.

Goal

The participant can:

- Work with glulam, CLT and wooden elements based on knowledge of the material types and construction principles for wooden construction at height.

- Apply requirements for fire, sound, moisture, air tightness and U-value when constructing wooden buildings at height.

- Use measuring equipment to check the moisture content during the manufacture, storage and assembly of glulam, CLT and wooden elements.

- Work with moisture strategy and moisture management when receiving and installing glulam, CLT and wooden elements.

- Work with joint details of glued laminated timber, CLT and wooden elements, including air- and vapor-tight joints, as well as subsequent insulation of these.

- Install nails, screws and special fittings, and use special tools for fastening glulam, CLT and wooden elements.

- Work with glulam, CLT and wooden elements based on specific assembly plans and the manufacturer's instructions and drawings.

- Perform quality assurance when assembling glued laminated timber, CLT and wooden elements, based on knowledge of tolerances and visible surfaces for wooden construction at height.

- Perform the work in accordance with applicable environmental and occupational health and safety legislation and use recommended and legally required aids and protective equipment, as well as use correct work techniques.
