Barista 1: Preparing coffee, cocoa and tea

Contents:

The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to prepare inviting coffee, tea and cocoa using various methods and guide guests in their choice of hot drinks. You will also gain the knowledge to assess the quality of coffee, tea and cocoa types and to operate, clean and maintain equipment used to prepare them.

Target group:

The course is aimed at non-skilled workers who prepare, serve and advise customers about hot drinks in restaurants, cafés or similar.

Goal:

You gain knowledge that enables you to:

- Describe the sensory properties of different coffees, teas and cocoa

- At a basic level, describe where and how coffee, tea and cocoa are grown and the importance of, for example, price, climate and taste

- Describe the sensory significance of the degree of roasting

- Describe a selection of hot "coffee drinks", tea and cocoa based on the product's properties

Based on this knowledge, you will gain the skills to:

- Advise guests on typically requested "coffee drinks", tea and cocoa

- Prepare typically requested "coffee drinks", tea and cocoa

- Operate, clean and maintain equipment used to make hot drinks.
